Steel has infiltrated every portion of our existence from the beds we sleep in to the cars we drive. More and more of the homes we live in owe their structural framing to the steel industry. Steel is infinitely recyclable which means that construction job sites will no longer be littered by large portions of unusable materials. All materials that are not used at a job site can be collected and sent for recycling. This means that the builders not only don?¢‚Ǩ‚Ñ¢t have to pay to haul the waste product to the dump. They get paid for returning their leftover product to the recycling center. This makes home building or any kind of building much more cost efficient as well as better for the natural world.

Life is surrounded with steel

Our cars have long been created from steel. Much of that steel has been replaced by lighter plastics, fiberglass and other concoctions, but the frame of the vehicle still has a steel heart. This is because steel is capable of a lot of strength, which is highly in demand in vehicles that travel at high speeds and sometimes meet at inopportune moments. Without steel, we would be back to traveling by horseback. The railroads would be gone, as would the planes overhead. Our beloved cars would be nonexistent and public transportation would consist of a stage coach. Our food would be cooked over an open fire and our mattresses would sit on the floor with no support help from springs.

Life without steel?

There is basically no part of our lives that steel does not touch in some fashion. It is such an integral part of our lives that we could scarcely do without it. If you can think of something we use in our daily lives, it probably has some amount of steel in it, except of course things like toothbrushes and the like. The other thing to consider is that even though a product you have may not have been made of steel, it may have taken something made from steel in order to create it.
