Steel Drop Bottom Bins are bins that are usually fabricated with steel corrugated sides. The one end of the floor is hinged so that when a tow motor lifts the bin, placing the forks under steel protrusions on the upper sides, the unhinged end of the floor will fall towards the ground. When this happens, all the contents of the bin will fall out of the opened floor to the desired station in the production line. This style of bin is usually composed of heavy duty materials for greater capacity and to give the bins longevity. These bins are stackable and the strength of their structure will determine the number of bins high that they can be stacked safely, when full of material. These bins are either four-way entry by a tow motor or sometimes only 2-way entry. The drop bottom feature of these containers doesn’t have to be used. Therefore, they can be used quite nicely as a steel solid bin, as long as they are only lifted from the bottom with a fork lift.
